7am. Cold and Breezy but none of the rain forecast last night

Walking for Charity 14th May 2012

Dunnerholme Members, Cath Fallows and Ros Ferguson are raising funds for Lady Captain’s Charity walking 45 miles of the Cumbrian Coastal Way.

Cath and Ros have sponsorship forms from “Alice’s Escapes”, and will start their walk on the 14th May from Milnthorpe to Kents Bank, then second stage, Kents Bank to Ulverston and finally Ulverston to Barrow. A total of 45 miles. They are “in training” and keen to get started, so please support their endeavours with a donation.

Duddon Inshore Rescue Trophy Winners 2012

Dunnerholme avoided all the April Showers on Sunday, and the Duddon Inshore Rescue Charity Open took place in cool but sunny conditions. there was a full field, and some really good scores. The winners with 49 points were Gavin Young and John French from Silecroft. The event raised £523 for Duddon Inshore Rescue funds.

Saturday 21st April, saw the return match at Silecroft of the Captain’s Friendly. The home team won the day, but the combined scores of the home and away games were in Dunnerholme’s favour, and Mr. Captain brought the winner’s Shield back to Dunnerholme, a rare feat.

Easter Saturday afternoon was cool but fine and 10 pairs from Dunnerholme played Silecroft in the first friendly of 2012. The result was a decisive win for the home side. Dunnerholme Captain John Flynn led his team to an 8. 1/2 – 1. 1/2 victory, a notable result, celebrated afterwards in the clubhouse, with a welcome meal and drink. The return match is in a fortnight, April 21st.
