GRANT EVANS CHARITY TROPHY – 26th March 2016
Strong winds and stinging rain were the order of the day for the third annual matchplay competition between Barrow and Dunnerholme, the first of the 2016 golfing season.
The Charity match was well supported with 64 players taking part.
Most teams elected to play their matches over 10 holes. Great credit goes to the teams who played 18 under such dire conditions, a noble example set by Mr. Captain and the Juniors.
It was nip and tuck all day, but Dunnerholme came out the eventual winners 8 and half to 7 and a half. The sum of £510 was raised, and Brian and Lorraine Evans donated half to Barrow Juniors and half to Dunnerholme, a most generous gesture.
