All the hectic activity preparing the course by the Green keeping Staff, volunteers and members was well rewarded on Monday morning for the County Final of the Cecil Leitch Five Club Competition. Although there was a testing wind, the rain held off and the sun shone on Dunnerholme.
Brenda Gill, Lady Captain welcomed the County President Marion Glassbrook, and County Captain Jo Tinsley, and at 11 o’clock the first of 42 competitors teed off. Many of the ladies had not played the course before, and found the going tough in the wind. The Par 3, 6th (The Rock) took its toll and spoilt one or two cards. The winners, however scored well, Sandie Ewan playing off 12, from Ulverston had a nett 71 (CPO) with Pam Thornley from Carus Green 2nd and 3rd with nett 72(CPO) was Jan Meredith (Windermere) from 4th Salli Pilcher (Seascale).
Dunnerholme Ladies catered for the field, and everyone had a most enjoyable day.
