Dunnerholme welcomed a full field for the Panama Open. This popular event, sponsored by Val Readett in memory of Brian, over the years has raised thousands of pounds for Cancer and Heart Charities that are special to Val. The 2019 Panama was particularly significant as Brian’s golfing friends from the USA came to play in the competition, as it would have been Brian’s 80th birthday.
The Texas scramble format proved to be an enjoyable and competitive format, producing some close scores. Our Congratulations go to the 2019 Winners of the Panama Open with 56.7 net – Dougie Day, Mark Day, Al Crighton and Dave Coverdale. Second with 57.6 net Dave Kavanagh, Barry Kavanagh, Al Foxon and Dave Tippett, with David Sharp, Irene Brough, Paula Knott and Elaine Harris taking third place with 57.9 net. Nearest the pin prize winners – Derek New and Martin Porter.
Dave Coverdale, on behalf of the winning team, thanked Val for her generosity and everything she has done for the Panama over the years, and he made special mention paying tribute to the volunteers and background helpers, members and friends who all freely gave their time and expertise to support and further the future of Dunnerholme Golf Club
Val presented the winners with their prizes, a satisfying moment, as they were “Val’s Team” and then she had special gifts for Ray Preston who celebrated his 80th Birthday, Lyn Benn 65th, and Jack Preston’s 70th, and to Brian and Julie Mulholland for taking care of Bri’s Bench at the 6th.
