The Poppy Charity Singles Competition took place on a glorious November day – with perfect conditions for golf.
The Royal British Legion provided 3 Medals for the winners – 1st, 2nd, 3rd – and every player received a Poppy Lapel Pin and Pitch Mark Repairer.
All funds raised go to Royal British Legion.

Nearest Pin – 2nd shot on 10th was Mark Barrett.
As we move into Winter Golf, the course has gone from damp to very wet. Because of the conditions we all need to take extra care to protect the course by ensuring that all divots are replaced. If landing your ball on the green, please look for, and repair a pitch mark. With little or no growth in the coming months, these small actions will help prevent the use of temporary greens.
Mats will be in play from 15th November and the 4th, 7th & 14th tees will be rested.
THE DAY. It was an early start for the Competitors in the President’s Cup. It was the largest field to take to the Fairways in recent memory. Mr. President had organised a full programme to celebrate his final year in office. The Juniors had played their Texas Scramble earlier in the week and the Ladies played for their Lady President’s Cup on the Friday and Saturday, to accommodate as many tee times as possible for the men. Inevitably it was a long day, but the speed of play did not hamper the standard of golf, net 63 being the winning score. The Halfway house refreshments boosted players energy levels, and there was a drink at the Bar waiting for all when they came off the course.
THE NIGHT – Oh What a Night !
Southwards served hot food – courtesy of the President from 6.30pm.
The Clubhouse, the terrace and the Marquee were full of Players, Members and Guests gathered for the Presentation and the evening celebrations.

THE REVELLERS
After the Presentation the President officially opened the New Terrace and Refurbished Clubhouse with a striking Fireworks Display. –
and the celebrations continued into the night, with Music from Clare Ball, and Just Billy’s Disco.
The morning started grey, misty and drizzling, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the stall holders or the visitors to the Craft Fair. By Lunch time, the sun was out, and they were enjoying their cups of tea out on the new terrace, a lovely venue to try some of the excellent “Dunnerholme Ladies Baking” too.
Books, Cards, Silver Jewellery, hand crafted Toys wooden decorations and Christmas Regalia. Skilled Crochet work, knitting and sewing, patchwork, bobble hats and cushions, Christmas stockings and intricate laser work were all displayed for sale, along with many innovative crafts and gifts for all occasions. The tombola was a great success and there were lots of lucky winners. Total Fund Raising from the event was £525.
