Lady Captain’s Day June 2nd 2018

The Dunnerholme Ladies met at 11.30am to avoid the road closures for Askam Carnival. After a welcome drink and canapes, the first pairings went to the first tee at 12.30pm.
The course had been well watered by a downpour in the morning and was looking very green and fresh, a welcome watering after the recent long dry spell.
There were some close scores but one round stood out head and shoulders above the rest – Lynda Preston with a net 66, a tremendous round, winning Lady Captain’s prize.
Runner up was Larraine Morrison and Kath Burley was third. Nearest the line on the 8th was Cath Fallows, and Lady Captain’s sister, keeping it in the family, was Janice Parkes  nearest the pin on the 14th.
After a delightful buffet and copious wine, courtesy of the Lady Captain, Chris presented the prizes to all the winners.
Lynda gave a very gracious speech, thanking Lady Captain for a really lovely day, and the beautiful prizes. On the thirteenth she had spotted a wren in the gorse, “Our Iris” (the little wren) was with us in spirit, inspiring Lynda to a phenomenal back nine, which won her the competition. Lovely memories – great day.
We were all treated to an hilarious “Laurel and Hardy style” wedding video starring the Broughs and the Knotts – “How not to get the Bride’s Father to the Wedding on time.” A work of Art.
A happy memorable and satisfying day, with good golf and great company.
“Thank you Christine”
